Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a flowering plant whose rhizome, ginger root or ginger, is widely used as a spice and a folk medicine. It is our medicine of choice for so many disorders which we will tell shortly. Ginger is used for digestion problems, cough & cold, respiratory disorders, sexual debility, menstrual disorders and even in cancer care. Ginger also plays an important role in immunity enhancement and is widely used in Indian and Chinese medicines for preventive as well as therapeutic use along with treating the above said disorders.

Ginger is available in two forms fresh and dried. Both are good for many disorders. Sun dried ginger or saunth is used in Indian traditional medicine for immunity, coughing, fever and also in preparation for many food items. Fresh ginger is taken as a juice along with other herbs. Half a teaspoon fresh ginger juice along with a teaspoon of lime juice, mint juice and honey is a great herbal formula for digestive disorders including dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting, wrong food, morning sickness, piles, jaundice. Take three times a day.
