The Lung Meridian (LU) is one of the primary meridians in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It starts from the chest, runs through the arms, and ends at the thumb. The Lung Meridian is associated with the element of metal and is said to control respiration, regulate the immune system, and manage the emotions of sadness and grief.
Main Points
- LU1: Zhongfu (Central Residence) – located in the center of the chest, near the sternum. It regulates respiration and is used to treat coughing, asthma, and chest pain.
- LU2: Yunmen (Cloud Gate) – located in the center of the axilla (armpit). It is used to treat chest pain, coughing, and shortness of breath.
- LU3: Taiyuan (Great Abyss) – located on the radial side of the wrist, between the thumb and index finger. It is used to treat coughing, asthma, and chest pain.
- LU5: Chize (Cubit Marsh) – located on the radial side of the wrist, below the thumb. It is used to treat coughing, asthma, and chest pain, as well as to regulate respiration.
- LU7: Lieque (Broken Sequence) – located on the radial side of the wrist, in the depression between the radius and ulna bones. It is used to treat coughing, asthma, and chest pain, as well as to regulate respiration.
- LU9: Taiyuan (Great Abyss) – located on the radial side of the thumb, in the web between the thumb and index finger. It is used to treat coughing, asthma, and chest pain, as well as to regulate respiration.
- LU10: Yuji (Jade Pivot) – located on the radial side of the thumb, below the first metacarpal bone. It is used to treat coughing, asthma, and chest pain, as well as to regulate respiration.
