Turmeric (Curcuma longa)

Turmeric is one of the most used herb in India and Indian sub-continent kitchen and traditionally and also finds an importance place in the cuisines of Iran, China, and south east Asia. It is often used as spice and has an effect on the nature, color, and taste of foods.  Turmeric contains an active component curcumin which have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer effects and, plays an important role in prevention and treatment of various illnesses ranging notably from cancer to autoimmune, neurological, cardiovascular diseases, and diabetic.

Curcuma longa is a herb from the ginger family and its active ingredient, Curcumin, are considered to be 

the most widely used Ayurvedic herb. Many scientific  papers have been published which show that Curcumin significantly impacts cancer cell proliferation, invasion, and angiogenesis, while reducing cancer cell survival and inducing apoptosis through mitochondrial and receptor mediated pathways.
